Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu has taken to social media with a cryptic message shortly after President William Ruto addressed her public conduct.
Nyamu was singled out by a user who questioned why she still holds public office despite behavior that has allegedly brought disrepute to her position. This prompted the president to explain the steps he has taken, including having personal conversations with her.
“Even Nyamu, I have had an occasion to sit her down and tell her that she needs to change what she is doing,” President Ruto stated.
“She is a girl I have had to sit down and tell her, look, you need to do things differently. I know what is going on and I have promised that I will be making changes.”
In an apparent response to being called out, the lawmaker took to Instagram on July 5, 2024, sharing a photo with the caption:
“Welcome to Kenya my country where baddies also snitch.
Karen Nyamu has been embroiled in several controversies over time:
- Altercation in Dubai Club: Nyamu was summoned by the UDA party after being involved in a physical altercation at a club in Dubai. This incident attracted significant media attention and public scrutiny.
- Driving on the Wrong Lane: She was filmed urging her driver to drive on the wrong lane while making her way to parliament. This behavior was widely condemned by netizens, who called for authorities to take action against her.
- Public Conduct Criticism: Nyamu’s conduct in public has frequently been criticized, leading President William Ruto to publicly address the issue, stating that he has spoken to her personally about changing her ways.
- Cryptic Social Media Posts: Following criticism, Nyamu often takes to social media with cryptic messages, such as her recent Instagram post stating, “Welcome to Kenya my country where baddies also snitch,” after being called out for her behavior.
These incidents have contributed to the public’s growing frustration with certain leaders, as expressed in recent anti-government protests.

The President acknowledged the concerns and promised to take action, assuring Kenyans that they will see changes moving forward.
“I agree that some of our officials are arrogant, some of them speak out of turn, and some display obnoxious opulence, which not only angers the public but also frustrates me. I sometimes call these individuals and give them a piece of my mind,” President Ruto noted.
According to the President, the conduct observed likely stems from the excitement of young people holding powerful positions in government.
In conclusion, the president added that, as a father figure, he has stepped in to mentor the young leaders on how to conduct themselves in a manner that brings honor to the offices they hold.
