The late Fred Omondi’s body has finally arrived in Kisumu ahead of the scheduled burial today, June 29, 2024.
Omondi’s body was received at Kisumu International Airport by family and friends of the late comedian, including Langata MP Jalang’o and Big Ted.
Fred Omondi will be laid to rest at his family home in Sega, Siaya County, tomorrow, in a burial ceremony expected to be attended by colleagues from the creative industry, family, and friends.
Born on May 9, 1989, Fred tragically passed away on June 15, 2024, in a road accident. Prior to his journey to Kisumu, a memorial service was held at the Chiromo Funeral Parlor Chapel in Nairobi to honor his memory.
Several well-known figures from the comedy industry gathered at the Chiromo Chapel to pay their respects, including Terence Creative, Milly Chebby, Bashra the Dance, Don Nyachio, Mc Jessy, 2Mbili, Sandra Dacha, Akuku Danger, Zeddy, Ezra FBI, among others.
Fredrick Odhiambo Omondi, known by his real name, will be interred on June 29, 2024, at the family home in Siaya. His remains are set to depart Nairobi following the memorial service.
Fred Omondi became a fixture at the Churchill Show, pioneering modern Kenyan comedy and forging a successful career in entertainment and entrepreneurship. Until his untimely death, Fred was a highly accomplished creative and entrepreneur, renowned for his performances on numerous stages across the country.
On June 28, 2024, the schedule for Fred Omondi’s burial arrangements is as follows:
- 5:45 PM: Fred’s body departs from Chiromo Funeral Parlour for JKIA (Jomo Kenyatta International Airport).
- 6:30 PM: Arrival of Fred’s body at Kisumu International Airport, received by family, members of the comedy industry, and CITAM Kisumu Church.
- 7:00 PM: Funeral procession to Sega-Siaya County for an overnight stay.
On June 29, 2024, the burial service will take place at the family home in Sega, Siaya County:
- 10:00 AM: Burial service begins with opening prayers by the CITAM Kisumu Pastor.
- Tributes will follow, including those from local administration and family eulogies, accompanied by performances from the Kisumu Worship Team.
- 12:00 PM: Sermon by CITAM Kisumu Pastor, Reverend Robin Mulunda.
- Closing activities will include a vote of thanks from the Funeral Committee chairman or representative.
- 2:00 PM: Guests will depart at their leisure following the gravesite procession.
