The Egerton University community is in mourning after the tragic deaths of two female students who passed away just hours apart a few days ago.
The Egerton University community is grieving the loss of two female students who died within a day of each other.
Vivian Nasimiyu Wekesa, a fourth-year student, passed away on August 8, 2024, after a prolonged illness. Hannah Wambui, a second-year student, died a day earlier, on August 7.
According to statements from the Dean of Students, Vivian’s burial is scheduled for August 17 in her home village in Bungoma.
The Dean of Students added that Vivian Nasimiyu Wekesa was pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Education.
Hannah Wambui, the second-year student, tragically died in a road accident on Wednesday, August 7. Her burial is set for August 15 in Murang’a County.

Year-six master’s student dies in accident
In a separate and deeply saddening event, Adzo Ahadzie, a Sixth-Year Master’s student in Architecture at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), tragically lost her life in a bicycle accident.
The incident occurred on the evening of Tuesday, July 9, 2024, when Ahadzie was riding her bicycle along Club House Road within the KNUST campus.
According to a statement shared on the university’s X page, Ahadzie was involved in a collision with a vehicle.
Despite the swift response from emergency services, who rushed her to the hospital in an attempt to save her life, she succumbed to her injuries shortly after arriving at the medical facility.
Adzo Ahadzie was a dedicated student in the Master’s program in Architecture, and her untimely death has cast a somber shadow over the KNUST community.
Her passing is not only a great loss to her family and friends but also to the university, where she was recognized for her commitment to her studies and her potential as an architect.
