Kisumu – A Kenya Power employee has tragically lost his life while performing his duties.
The technician reportedly died on the afternoon of Tuesday, August 13, after falling from an electric pole at the Nyabondo Centre in Nyakach.
Upper Nyakach Assistant County Commissioner Dawin Orina confirmed the incident, stating that the young man was performing routine maintenance at the time of the accident.
A report by Citizen Digital revealed that the technician, identified as Jackson Okoth, was with his colleagues when the accident occurred.
Assistant County Commissioner Dawin Orina stated that Okoth fell on his head, sustaining severe head injuries among other injuries.
“Jackson Okoth was performing routine maintenance with his colleagues when he accidentally fell, landing on his head,” Orina explained.
How did Okoth’s colleagues try to save him?
Orina noted that Jackson Okoth’s colleagues quickly transported him to Nyabondo Mission Hospital, but he was pronounced dead on arrival.
“He was rushed to Nyabondo Mission Hospital, but was unfortunately pronounced dead on arrival,” Orina said.
The local police have initiated an investigation to determine the circumstances leading to the fatal fall.
Okoth’s body has been taken to the Nyabondo Mission Hospital morgue, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.
Migori father dies after dropping daughter in school
In another tragic incident, residents of Ulanda were left in shock after the death of a middle-aged man.
The man, a father, was reportedly electrocuted on the evening of Wednesday, May 15.
According to Awendo sub-county police commander Mathias Pombo, the man was returning home after dropping his daughter off at a nearby secondary school when the tragedy occurred.
Pombo explained that an electricity pole carrying live wires had previously fallen in the area.
The man came into contact with one of the live wires and was electrocuted on the spot. Despite efforts to resuscitate him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
