A viral video shows a dramatic scene where a 52-year-old woman from Kirinyaga gained access to a church in an attempt to stop her alleged husband’s wedding.
Rose Wawira, a mother of five, has been making headlines after she stormed a church in Kirinyaga while the bride and groom, both clerics, were exchanging vows.
A circulating clip on social media shows Wawira boldly entering the church. Fortunately for the couple, the intruder was stopped by young men assigned for security at the event.
The clip shows the groom’s first wife and her children being forcefully escorted out by young men and women in reflector jackets stationed at the church entrance.
In the video, Rose Wawira is seen screaming and claiming that her belongings, including a handbag, were confiscated by the security personnel.
“They have taken our handbag and chased us away,” she told a police officer who arrived during the commotion. The police did not permit her to re-enter the church premises, where her estranged husband was exchanging vows with another woman.
Upon arrival, the police officer also questioned the men in green reflector jackets, expressing surprise at their presence, as he was unaware of any official security personnel assigned to the wedding.

As previously reported, Rose Wawira maintained that the groom is still her husband, citing their five children together.
After her dramatic intervention, Wawira expressed her frustration to the media, revealing her dismay over her estranged husband—a pastor—deciding to marry another cleric.
She claimed that he was avoiding her to marry his lover. Wawira lamented that she faced physical aggression, including kicks and blows, as she tried to stop the wedding. She also reported that her dress was torn during the altercation.
