Rachel Otuoma, the wife of ailing footballer Ezekiel Otuoma, has clarified her stance after videos of her went viral on TikTok.
The influencer went live with a Ghanaian pastor who interacted with her sick husband, Ezekiel Otuoma.
During the video, Ezekiel could be seen standing with minimal support. Ezekiel has been battling motor neurone disease, also known as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), which progressively weakens muscles and affects physical function.
In a TikTok video, Rachel revealed that her husband had children before they met and expressed confusion over why the mother of his children is now seeking financial assistance from him while he is ill.
In an exclusive interview with UPEPO.co.ke, Rachel said that she was fully occupied taking care of Otuoma, and therefore, she had no time to pay attention to the online noise surrounding their situation.
“Negatives will always be there; you cannot be loved by everyone. The fact remains I am with my husband, I am taking care of him, and that is the most important thing. Others are none of my business,” she said.
Otuoma’s wife also emphasized that she was focused on taking care of her sick husband and clarified that she would not extend the same level of care to his children.
She asked why they demanded help when their father needed it the most.
“The kids are none of my business. My focus is on Otuoma, whether he is okay or not, if he has his medication or not. I was married to Otuoma, not to his community. Their father is the one who needs more care. They only see Rachel looking well and driving, but behind the scenes, they don’t know how much my husband and I are struggling. If she were to take care of Otuoma, could she handle him even for a day? She hasn’t seen him in four years, not even for a day. It doesn’t work like that,” she added.
