Migori – Grief has descended upon Rongo town following the mysterious death of a 77-year-old woman.
What Rongo police boss said about the incident
Citizen Digital reported that Penina Mungari collapsed and died in Rongo town on Monday, August 5.
Confirming the incident, Rongo Sub-County Police Commander Salim Fundi stated that Penina Mungari collapsed shortly after exiting a vehicle to attend to a brief stop.
According to the police boss, some passengers quickly took her to Rongo Sub-County Hospital for treatment, but she was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Police have launched an investigation to determine the cause of Penina’s death, with initial suspicions suggesting she may have had an underlying medical condition.
The body has been transferred to Rosewood Hospital mortuary, where it will remain pending an autopsy.
How woman died while attending church service in West Maragoli
In other sad news, an elderly woman lost her life while attending a church service in the Kisatiru area of West Maragoli. Phanice Jahenda, aged 59, was among the congregants at the Jesus Power Church during a night vigil prayer held on Friday, March 15. According to a report from TV47, a private medic was summoned to provide first aid, but upon examination, it was determined that Jahenda had already passed away.
The police arrived at the church to handle the situation and subsequently transported the body to the Itando Hospital mortuary for further processing. An investigation into the circumstances surrounding Jahenda’s sudden death has been initiated. State law enforcement officials, along with local administrators, have been engaging with members of the church to gather more information.
Jahenda’s family has indicated that she had a history of asthma, which they believe could have been a contributing factor to her untimely demise. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to determine the precise cause of her death.
