South Africa-based Ugandan socialite Zari Hassan and her husband Shakib have been airing their private issues publicly.
The drama began when Zari Hassan took to social media to criticize her husband, Shakib, for being jealous when her ex, Diamond Platnumz, attended their daughter’s birthday party.
Zari, the mother of five, accused Shakib of overreacting, explaining that she was unaware Diamond would travel to South Africa despite having sent money for the party.
In the same video, Zari also claimed that Shakib contributes nothing financially, asserting that she is responsible for covering all the household expenses.
Zari also advised any women interested in Shakib to be prepared to handle all the expenses, as she claimed he does not contribute financially.
Shakib, however, responded strongly. In a phone interview, he refuted Zari’s claims, calling her a miser.
He stated,
“Marriage revolves around communication and respect. No marriage can last without respect. I would have endured this disrespect if she were the one supporting me, but I take care of myself. I work and hustle like a man. The most I have ever received from Zari was during a business trip to Tanzania. As many know, she is quite stingy, and this is supported by her friends, family, and in-laws. I am not fabricating this.”
Shakib revealed that although Zari was paid KSh 5.2 million, she only gave him KSh 260,000.
He expressed frustration over what he perceives as disrespect, stating, “You can’t disrespect me just because you gave me money that I spend in just two days. You don’t get to disrespect me and expect me to stay silent because you don’t support me financially. I am prepared for whatever comes next. I don’t expect much from Zari, especially not children, as she is past the age of having them.”
