Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino’s decision to reject Raila Odinga and the ODM Party’s resolution to support President William hours caused a stir on social media, drawing comments from Azimio principal Martha Karua.
Choosing to align himself with the Kenyans protesting against the regime, Babu Owino emphasized his readiness to face any repercussions for his stance.
“My decision is to be with the People. I will not support this defunct Government no matter the consequences,” the MP boldly declared, openly rebelling against the position of his ODM party and leader Raila Odinga.
Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua welcomed the lawmaker’s courageous decision, noting that it is the right course of action.
“Way to go, son,” the Narc Kenya leader stated on Saturday morning.
Fallout in Azimio over decision to support Ruto’s regime
Raila Odinga’s support for the Kenya Kwanza regime, which has been criticized by Kenyans for lacking accountability, corruption, and poor governance, has caused a rift with his co-principals in Azimio and his supporters, who now view him as a traitor.
All other Azimio leaders have opposed joining Kenya Kwanza’s proposed government of national unity, reflecting the views of the political parties they represent.
Wiper party boss Kalonzo Musyoka made it clear that Wiper, Jubilee, DAP-K, PNU and Narc remain united and will not participate in the Kenya Kwanza proposed broad based government.
According to the Wiper party leader, the move would be a betrayal to Gen Zs.
While Odinga has shown support for the Ruto regime, including endorsing its push for an inclusive cabinet, Azimio leaders have emphasized that anyone who joins the government does so as an individual, not as a representative of Azimio.
