A Kenyan man sparked a heated debate on social media after sharing how his marriage broke down despite spending a significant amount on it.
The marriage ended after a fancy wedding due to unspecified reasons or challenges that arose after the celebration
The netizen stated that he met his future ex-wife in 2019 while he was with his then-girlfriend.
“I was dating a Somali lady when I met my ex-wife. The cultural differences between me and the Somali lady made me conclude that we had no future.”
The man made a significant decision to end his relationship with the Somali lady in favor of a woman from Limuru, Kiambu County.
He recounted how he meticulously followed all the Agikuyu traditions leading up to the radio (dowry payment ceremony) and an elaborate wedding.
“She wanted a ring made of interlocking gold parts with three diamonds,” he recalled.
Additionally, she insisted on purchasing a wedding gown worth KSh 40,000 instead of opting to rent one. In total, the man claimed to have spent approximately KSh 4.5 million on the wedding festivities.
The incident sparked a flurry of reactions on Twitter, where netizens turned the situation into a comedic topic, poking fun at the extravagant spending and the unexpected outcome of his marriage.
“You’re saying she forced you to get the ring, just like Manchester United was forcing you to win the title,” remarked a guy, eliciting laughter from the audience.
The comments section was flooded with responses from netizens, many of whom suggested that he had disregarded the teachings of the bro-code, as outlined by Amerix.
