South Africa-based Ugandan socialite Zari Hassan has recently found herself at the center of a domestic controversy following a visit from her ex-partner, Tanzanian music star Diamond Platnumz.
The visit, which was for their daughter Tiffah’s birthday celebration, has ignited a storm of drama involving Zari’s current partner, Shakib.
The situation escalated when Shakib discovered through a video shared online that Diamond had attended the birthday party at Zari’s residence.
This revelation led to a confrontation between Shakib and Zari, during which Shakib expressed his anger over Diamond’s presence and their ongoing interactions.
Zari, however, has defended her actions, asserting that Diamond’s involvement was solely for the benefit of their children.
Zari explained that any financial support or involvement from Diamond is directly related to their children.
“Anything that involves his kids, when I want money, he sends it. Lutaaya was like, ‘you and your baby daddy.’ Me and my baby daddy, what? It was a birthday, and that’s his kid, and I am their mother. It became like a whole big story,” she stated. She emphasized that Diamond’s visit was a part of his parental duties and that she was not informed about his trip to South Africa beforehand. “He didn’t tell me he is coming to South Africa. I didn’t even know he was coming,” Zari added.
Zari and Shakib’s marriage has faced several challenges, particularly related to Zari’s co-parenting relationship with Diamond. Despite being married, Zari and Shakib do not live together, which has contributed to the strains in their relationship.
This recent issue is not the first time that Zari’s interactions with Diamond have caused tension between the couple.
Earlier this year, Zari and Shakib briefly separated, a development Zari announced publicly on February 26. Although they later reconciled, the separation was initially attributed to a video in which Zari and Diamond were seen holding hands.
However, Zari clarified that the issues between her and Shakib predated this video.
“Shakib and I have had issues before. That is why in November and December, I decided to delete his photos on my Instagram page. We had big issues, and it is not because I did the video that Shakib has left South Africa,” she explained.
The recent drama included a video circulating online that showed Shakib packing Zari’s belongings, which sparked rumors that Shakib felt disrespected by the interaction between Zari and Diamond.
Zari has acknowledged Shakib’s feelings and expressed regret for not informing him about the promotional video she did with Diamond.
“I don’t blame him for feeling how he feels. Had I told him before Diamond released the video, he would be okay. Now that he has left, I have decided to give myself some space from the whole situation,” Zari said.
In her admission, Zari acknowledged that her failure to communicate with Shakib about the promotional video was a mistake.
She has since apologized to Shakib for the oversight.
“My mistake was that I did not tell Shakib that I had done a promotional video with Diamond. That is where I am wrong. He was also caught by surprise and he said he felt disrespected when I was around the father of my children. I have asked for forgiveness,” she concluded.
