Kenyans are in mourning after the tragic news of the passing of a prominent figure from the Akorino community.
The sudden death of Bishop Johanna on Thursday, August 8, has deeply impacted many.
The Akorino bishop gained widespread attention due to a viral video showing his controversial exorcism methods.
In the footage, he was seen touching a woman inappropriately while attempting to cast out demons during a church service.
Following intense online backlash, Bishop Johanna defended himself, as many disagreed with his approach to praying for a church member.
His wife, Mary Wanjiku, shared with UPEPO.co.ke that the bishop had been experiencing severe headaches before being diagnosed with meningitis. His condition worsened, ultimately leading to his sudden and untimely death.
Despite the online controversy surrounding Bishop Johanna, many Kenyans turned to social media to express their condolences following his death.
Deborah Kathomi wrote, “May his soul rest in peace.”
Hildah Resley Sharzzler added, “Despite everything, I have never glorified death. It hurts so very much. Rest easy, Johanna.”
Misheck Mutethia Petero noted, “Everything in this beautiful world of God will pass, but the word of God will remain forever. RIP.”
Shiku Gaitu remarked, “People say the old man died because of his character.
My question is, are those who are still alive dying because of bad behavior? Only God has the right to judge.”
Shelmith Mwangi commented, “It’s sad, despite what this so-called man of God did on the altar. May the family find comfort in the Lord.”
Jonny Lucky expressed, “Rest easy, Bishop. I hope you will welcome us in heaven if you preached the truth.”
Judy King stated, “Let us respect God to live a long life and sleep well, John.”
