Photos circulating online have captured Kenyan high school students competing in a fashion show.
How do high schools celebrate cultural week?
The students brought their A-game to the contest at the girls’ school. According to Facebook user Bryan Tsaul, the photos were taken at Mulango Girls during their 2024 cultural day.
One image features a student in a classy white dress with black heels, while another student is dressed as a badminton player, complete with a racket. Additionally, there’s a student wearing a floral dress.
Among the standout outfits at the event was a student dressed in traditional Maasai attire, which drew significant attention for its vibrant and cultural representation.
Another student made a notable impression by dressing as a doctor, showcasing a different aspect of creativity and professionalism. The event also featured an entertaining eating competition, where students competed to see who could consume bread and soda the fastest.
Bryan Tsaul shared these details on Facebook, noting that Mulango Girls High School, founded in 1955 by the African Inland Mission (AIM) in the Wikililye sub-location of Kitui County, started as a primary school. He highlighted the school’s ongoing legacy and the pride of Kitui County.
The impressive displays of style and creativity received enthusiastic reactions from the Kenyan community.
Mwethya Faith, a leader, expressed her admiration, saying, “As a leader, I am impressed.”
Hon Victor Teddy Kidambi also shared his approval with a simple,
“I am impressed.”
Rose Karozy Mbula proudly identified with the school, stating, “My school.”
Kevin Kyambia, a teacher, conveyed his satisfaction, remarking, “As a teacher, I am happy.”
How did Kanjuri High School dance?
In other news, Teacher Lilian Mutugi, recently assigned to Kanjuri High School, delighted both students and fellow teachers by showcasing her dance skills during the school’s talent show.
Given that participation was mandatory for all staff and students, Lilian chose to dance to the popular song “Gotha.”
Lilian expressed her joy at sharing a significant part of her life with her students, noting that she is an avid dancer who frequently posts videos on TikTok. Her energetic performance quickly captured the attention of many Kenyans on the platform, who were impressed and curious about having had such a dynamic and engaging teacher.
The enthusiasm surrounding her dance clip sparked a wave of comments, with viewers marveling at the prospect of having had such “cool” teachers during their own school days.
