Activist Kasmuel McOure, recognized for his active participation in protests against the Finance Bill 2024 and various government policies, has declared his intention to enter the political arena.
What are Kasmuel McOure’s political ambitions?
Speaking to KISS FM, McOure outlined his political aspirations and confirmed his plans to run in the 2027 General Election.
“In 2022, I mentioned that I would be active in politics by 2027 because we’ve been electing a bunch of clowns,” McOure stated. He added that while he is uncertain about joining any political party at this stage, he is exploring his options. “So yes, I’ll be on the ballot in 2027,” he affirmed.
When asked about the specific position he intends to pursue, McOure indicated that he is considering either a legislative seat or an executive role, potentially in Nairobi or at the national level.
He emphasized that his strong involvement in protests stems from a deep desire to effect change within the country’s government system.
Kasmuel McOure rushes to DCI at night
The activist’s statement follows a recent incident where he sought refuge at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) offices on the night of Wednesday, July 17.
Around 11:04 pm, McOure posted on his X (formerly Twitter) account, indicating that he was going to the DCI due to credible threats to his life that made him feel unsafe.
He later updated his followers, explaining that he and his friends were redirected to Muthaiga Police Station, as they were not permitted to stay at the DCI offices overnight.
In his tweet, McOure mentioned that he and his friends were relocated to the Central Police Station, where they were permitted to stay overnight.
Prior to his social media updates, McOure had shared with K24 during an interview that he would keep his friends and loved ones informed about his location that night due to his heightened sense of insecurity.
He expressed his concern for his safety, which prompted him to take these precautionary measures.
