A woman who claims to have been Fred Omondi’s wife has emerged, disclosing details about their relationship and expressing openness to potential co-wives ahead of his burial ceremony.
This unexpected disclosure has caught fans off guard, especially since Fred Omondi had never publicly acknowledged her before.
During an interview with a local media outlet on June 28, an unnamed woman revealed herself as Fred Omondi’s wife and the mother of his two-year-old daughter, Kyla Adhiambo Omondi. Fred had previously spoken affectionately about his daughter, though it’s unclear if Kyla is the same child he mentioned.
Despite their relationship, she had deliberately kept a low profile. “I am Fred’s wife. We have a child together. She is two years old and her name is Kyla Adhiambo Omondi,” she affirmed.
When asked about her reception by Fred Omondi’s family, she expressed gratitude for their warm welcome, which surpassed her expectations. Initially apprehensive about potential rejection on her first visit to Fred’s family home, she was pleasantly surprised.
“I want to thank Fred’s mother for warmly accepting me. I had anticipated they might question my identity, but his siblings welcomed me graciously. I am truly thankful,” she shared.
The woman traveled to Fred’s home on Sunday night and arrived Monday morning, opting to go alone due to uncertainty about how she would be received. “I traveled overnight on Sunday and arrived Monday morning. It was my first time visiting, so I came by myself, unsure if I would be welcomed or turned away,” she explained.
She disclosed that Fred Omondi had shared his family background with her, expressing his longing for a maternal figure in his life. This revelation inspired her to agree to be his wife, despite them not living together regularly.
“Fred told me about his background, how he didn’t have parents but wished for someone to fill that role. I agreed to be his wife. Although we didn’t live together, I would visit him for about a month at a time before returning to my place,” she explained.
She recounted their first meeting at an event, which blossomed into a relationship that eventually led to the birth of their child. “We met at a function, started talking, exchanged numbers, and it developed from there until we had a child,” she recalled. She also mentioned Fred’s active involvement in their daughter’s life, including tender moments like shaving her hair.
“Fred was the one who shaved her hair,” she added fondly.
Reflecting on the moment she learned of Fred Omondi’s passing, she described her disbelief and shock. “Fred was always joyful. I never saw anything negative about him. We were fine. One morning, a friend called and said Fred was at Mama Lucy Hospital, but I couldn’t believe it. I had just spoken to him, and he had mentioned coming to see our child because I was staying at my mother’s place in Kibera. I went to Mama Lucy Hospital but still couldn’t accept it until I learned he had passed away and been taken to the mortuary,” she shared.
In a surprising statement, she expressed openness to accepting any other co-wives Fred might have had. “I’m not certain if there are others, but if there are, I welcome them.”
During Fred Omondi’s memorial service, his brother Eric Omondi disclosed that two other women have come forward claiming to have children with Fred. He invited anyone else who believes they have a child with Fred to come forward before the burial.
Eric also expressed his readiness to care for these children, with a condition. “There are children at home who resemble Mulamwah. Those claiming to have Fred’s children should ensure they resemble Fred. Two have already been brought home,” Eric stated.
