A video showing one of Fred Omondi’s stepmothers screaming during his burial has deeply moved Kenyans.
Fred Omondi’s family situation regarding his mothers has been a topic of discussion. According to reports, his brother Eric Omondi mentioned that their father had five wives. However, during the funeral, there was a dispute, with one of Fred’s sisters not acknowledging the fifth wife.
Eric Omondi discussed the family dynamics during Fred Omondi’s funeral, stating, “This is the firstborn of my dad. So this is the family. My dad had five wives… they are refusing Grace. My dad had five wives, okay dad had four wives… Benita’s mum, Pamela was the third wife. My mum was the fourth wife.” He further explained that Grace, his father’s last wife, cared for them after some of his sisters went abroad, but they did not acknowledge her. “When my mum passed, they were not around. Dad married again.”
Terence Creative, Fred Omondi’s mother, burst into tears just moments after Fred’s body was laid into the grave. One of his stepmothers also let out a sharp cry as she mourned the comedian.
The heartbroken mother expressed the pain of losing a loved one.”Uchungu wa msiba aijuae ni mwenyewe (The pain of grief is known only by the one experiencing it),” she wept. During this emotional moment, Eric was seen being comforted by his partner, Lynne.
Terence Creative, who stood next to her, also burst into tears. Terence, who had broken the news of Fred’s death to his family, could be seen wiping tears with his white t-shirt. The comedian, who was a close friend of Fred, was carrying a wreath in his hands.

Fred Omondi’s death deeply impacted many, highlighting his humble beginnings and journey to fame. He had shared about living in Kibera’s Silanga slums before gaining fame, often trekking to Carnivore, Lang’ata, for Churchill Show recordings. Following his passing, a throwback video surfaced showing Fred supporting Eric Omondi during protests against the high cost of living.
During Fred’s candle lighting ceremony, Eric Omondi was visibly overwhelmed with emotions, comforted by his partner, Lynne. Eric later penned tearjerking messages to his brother after he was laid to rest, reflecting on their bond and the loss.
