Comedian turned activist Eric Omondi has reaffirmed his strong support for Kenyans protesting against the controversial Finance Bill 2024.
Despite his absence from the protests, Omondi remains dedicated to the cause.
Currently, Omondi is focusing on preparing for the funeral of his younger brother, Fred, who tragically lost his life in a road accident.
Omondi, known for his outspoken stance against government policies, has been a prominent figure in the ongoing protests.
Despite missing the recent demonstrations, Eric Omondi continues to mobilize support through social media and other platforms.
“Tuko Pamoja. Go Soldiers. Wacha nimalize nikam,” Omondi posted, expressing solidarity with the protestors.
His message included a previous interview on Citizen TV where he passionately cautioned the government about the potential consequences if the Finance Bill were to pass.
“I want to speak to the government and the president directly: if the finance bill passes, it won’t be business as usual. The government will face unrest, and the youth will rise up,” Omondi emphasized.
The protests, initially centered in Nairobi, have now spread to various parts of Kenya, including Mombasa, Eldoret, Kericho, Nakuru, Nyeri, and Kakamega, among others.
These widespread demonstrations underscore the growing dissatisfaction among Kenyans regarding the Finance Bill 2024.
Over the past year, Eric Omondi has risen as a prominent critic of government policies while also actively engaging in philanthropy.
His outspoken activism has sometimes resulted in clashes with authorities, leading to multiple arrests. Despite these challenges, Omondi has remained steadfast in his commitment to advocating for the rights of ordinary Kenyans.
The recent loss of his brother Fred has undoubtedly been a profound personal tragedy for Omondi. Fred’s remains are scheduled to be airlifted to Kisumu on Friday, June 28, 2024, through the assistance of the KUPA organization. Subsequently, they will be transported by road to Sega in Siaya County.
