President William Ruto has finalized his Cabinet nominations after the previous Cabinet was dissolved in response to anti-government protests.
In his final Cabinet selections, President William Ruto has nominated Senior Counsel Dorcas Oduor to be the next Attorney General.
If Parliament approves her nomination, she will make history as Kenya’s first female Attorney General.
Her appointment has been met with widespread acclaim from Kenyans and various leaders, who consider it a commendable choice given her extensive and diverse experience.
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua expressed his satisfaction with President William Ruto’s new Cabinet secretary nominees.
He addressed concerns that the central region had been overlooked in the Cabinet reorganization, dismissing these claims as unfounded. Gachagua highlighted several counties from the central region where some of the appointed Cabinet secretaries hail from, asserting that the region has not been disadvantaged in the new arrangement.
MP Millie Odhiambo has expressed interest in the position of Minority Leader in the National Assembly, following the nomination of Opiyo Wandayi as Energy Cabinet Secretary.
Meanwhile, an activist has submitted a petition to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) seeking to prevent the approval of Wycliffe Oparanya for the role of Cooperatives and SMEs Cabinet Secretary.
