Businesswoman Cebbie Koks Kokeyo has voiced her discontent regarding the criticism directed at CS nominee Soipan Tuya.

In a statement shared on her social media platforms, Cebbie Koks Kokeyo expressed frustration at the online criticism directed towards CS nominee Soipan Tuya. Cebbie highlighted the challenges faced in congratulating women who break barriers and achieve remarkable success in various fields.

“You make it incredibly difficult to celebrate women who shatter the glass ceiling. You pursue us like witches in a sisal plantation merely for standing with them. @hon.soipantuya is up to the task!

In my opinion: We educate women to integrate them into decision-making forums. Therefore, we should not underestimate their capability to hold such positions,” Cebbie stated.

She further emphasized Tuya’s qualifications, noting her background equips her well for the role of CS Interior.

“Soipan Tuya’s blend of legislative experience, legal proficiency, leadership skills, and commitment to ethical governance positions her as an exceptional candidate for the position of Cabinet Secretary for Defense.

Her appointment would introduce a comprehensive and deeply principled approach to leading the nation’s defense. Congratulations! We fully support you,” Cebbie concluded.

In response to the disrespectful treatment of Cabinet Secretary for Defence nominee Soipan Tuya on social media, the Maa Women’s Umbrella Network, led by Chairperson Angeline Yiamiton Siparo, has strongly condemned the derogatory language and imagery directed at Tuya. Siparo expressed deep concern and dismay over the abusive behavior evident in social media posts, videos, and images targeting Tuya.

“As the Maa Women’s Umbrella Network, we vehemently condemn the abuse and disrespect shown towards her,” Siparo stated in a media statement.

Highlighting Tuya’s extensive qualifications and achievements, Siparo underscored Tuya’s decade-long tenure as Narok County Woman MP, her legal education from the University of Nairobi and the University of Washington, USA, and her significant contribution as Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Environment and Forestry.

“We have full confidence in her capability to serve in the Ministry of Defence, a role endorsed by President William Ruto,” Siparo affirmed.

Emphasizing the privacy of Tuya’s personal life, Siparo denounced the defamatory statements circulating on social media, urging organizations advocating for women’s rights to stand in solidarity against cyberbullying targeting Tuya.

“She is not only the most senior Maa woman leader but also a leader of national prominence,” Siparo concluded.
