Boondocks Gang member Maddox has rejected YouTuber Oga Obinna’s offer to help him enter rehab, despite a video surfacing that suggested he was living on the streets.
In the video, Maddox discussed how he was not being compensated for his art, leading many to speculate that he had turned to substance abuse.
After the video went viral, Oga Obinna mobilized Kenyans to support the well-known musician and help him get into rehab. Obinna proposed, “We should pool our resources and put him in rehab for maybe a year.”

However, in an interview with Kenya Media Online, Maddox refuted claims that he was struggling with addiction and asserted that he was doing fine.
He stated,
“I am not addicted; I am okay. I do not need to go to rehab. I am not a fan of drugs; perhaps they were being used against me, but I don’t like using them myself. I don’t want to use any substances, including alcohol—unless I become a water ambassador.”
Maddox explained that his presence on the streets was due to not receiving his fair share of payments. He recalled instances when other members of Boondocks Gang were paid, but he was left out.
He expressed gratitude to his fans for their continued support and for buying him food whenever they saw him on the streets.
