In a remarkable display of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), BangBet Limited has once again shown its commitment to giving back to the community by organizing a significant food donation drive for widows and orphans in Makueni County.
The event, which took place at Kako Comprehensive School, attracted over 1,000 widows and orphans, all of whom received essential food items to carry them through the festive season.
At the heart of the initiative was Reverend Dr. Jane Makau, Chairperson of the Betting Control and Licensing Board (BCLB), who hails from the Kako area.
Dr. Makau underscored the need to empower women, particularly widows, who often carry the burden of raising children and managing households on their own.
“Widows are central to the well-being of our communities. They are the caretakers and nurturers of future generations. Supporting them through initiatives like these is critical to the success of our society,” she remarked.
BangBet’s Manager, David Gichuhi, reiterated the company’s commitment to supporting communities that have contributed to its success. “Our CSR initiatives are designed to give back to the communities that support us.
Today, we are not just providing food; we are providing hope and comfort to families who may have otherwise struggled during this festive period,” said Gichuhi.
The food donation event was attended by notable government officials, including Principal Secretary for Devolution, Teresia Mbaika Malokwe, and the President’s Advisor on Women’s Rights, Hon. Harriette Chiggai. Both expressed their gratitude to BangBet for its continued support of vulnerable groups and encouraged other businesses to follow suit.
In addition to the food donations, BangBet and the BCLB also funded a borehole project at Kako Comprehensive School, ensuring the availability of clean water for both the school and the surrounding community. This initiative addresses one of the most pressing challenges in the area – access to safe, clean water.
The event concluded with smiles all around as beneficiaries expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the generous donations. BangBet’s CSR initiatives continue to set a high standard, making a lasting impact on the lives of vulnerable groups in Kenya.
