Kenyan singer and content creator Kaymo Thitima recently shared his personal experience in the delivery room, offering insights into his journey through childbirth.
His account provides a rare perspective from a male figure on the emotional and physical aspects of supporting a partner during this significant life event.
This kind of openness helps to shed light on the shared experiences of parenthood and the often unspoken challenges faced by those involved.
Kaymo Thitima candidly described his surprise and confusion during his wife’s delivery, particularly when their baby came out looking “white,” contrary to the cleaned and edited images commonly seen on social media. He admitted to initially being shocked and unsure if the baby was an alien, but was relieved once the baby was cleaned and appeared as expected.
Kaymo also highlighted the lack of preparation for men in understanding childbirth. He recounted an incident where he mistakenly thought his wife’s post-delivery urination was a sign of her water breaking, leading to an unnecessary hospital visit. He advocates for more education for expectant fathers, suggesting that men should have their own baby showers to learn about what to expect, such as recognizing contractions and understanding labor processes.
