A video of a 14-year-old boy rejecting the BMW X3 car gift his mother surprised him with has caused quite a stir online.
A Facebook user, Enalysis Ofugara, who reposted the video, expressed outrage over the boy’s reaction, attributing it to being raised by a single mother.
“A father would take it back. These boys raised by single mothers act like their mom is their girlfriend. He wouldn’t try this with his dad,” Enalysis wrote.
Why boy rejected BMW X3 car
The clip began with the boy being led, eyes closed, by his mother to where the white BMW X3 was parked. As she handed him the key, she eagerly told him to open his eyes.
Instead of showing gratitude, the boy expressed disappointment, stating that he wanted a BMW X5, not an X3. He dropped the key on the car and stormed off the scene.
The video included a caption explaining that the boy’s mother had bought him the car as a high school graduation gift.
The boy’s rejection of the car sparked outrage online. Many criticized his reaction, deeming it ungrateful and spoiled. Some commenters blamed his behavior on being raised by a single mother, suggesting a father would have handled the situation differently. The clip stirred intense discussions about parenting, entitlement, and gratitude.
Below are some of the comments
Austine Ighovwede commented,
“It didn’t start overnight, she must have raised the boy to believe he could get anything he wanted. Imagine the audacity.”
Queen Omeh Odibo added,
“Wrong on all levels…just too much for a 14-year-old.”
Harrison Bamawo commented,
“This is what happens when a single mother wants to prove that she can take care of her kids better after separating from her husband.”
Omo-Odiase Osadebamwen added,
“Okay, this is content…. How? The age, the entitlement. Case closed since nothing more to discuss! That discussion can never reach where he sees a chance to take talk of X3, X5.”
Uzozie Chimaraoke remarked,
“Are we even supposed to comment on this? Is a 14-year-old officially allowed to drive? Abeg, the mama should go and deal with the entitled son she raised.”
