Former radio presenter Joyce Gituro was sworn in as the Chief Officer for Public Communications and E-Government in Machakos County on Monday.
The swearing-in ceremony followed a successful vetting and approval exercise by the County Assembly of Machakos.
The ceremony, attended by Governor Wavinya Ndeti, also saw two other chief officers take their oaths: Francis Munyambu (Inspectorate and Emergency Services) and Dr. Juliana Ndunge (Sewerage, Sanitation, and Waste Management).
“I take the opportunity to wish them the very best, God’s guidance and wisdom as they serve the great people of Machakos County in fulfilling our Clarion call, Chakula Mezani, Pesa Mfukoni,” Governor Ndeti said.
Joyce Gituro expressed her gratitude on social media, captioning:
“I have so much to say about this appointment, but for now, allow me to thank the Almighty God for His mercies that are new every morning, @governorwavinyandeti for believing in me, my dear daughter and two sons for loving me always, my immediate and extended family members for being there, and for ALL my friends for being very very patient with me. Their appointments were gazetted by the governor on June 21, 2024.
Joyce Gituro worked at Royal Media Services for over 15 years, starting as an On-Air Host and growing through the ranks to become a Transmission Controller at Radio Citizen and later a Brand Manager. In 2018, she left and joined Mediamax Network as Head of Programs, overseeing six radio stations, until she quit in 2019. She later joined Radio Jambo in 2020, hosting the Sunday show ‘Injili Jumapili’ (Gospel Sunday), before leaving to focus on business.
