A Kakamega family is grieving the loss of two relatives who were among the 14 victims killed in a bus accident near Migaa, Salgaa in Nakuru County.
On Tuesday, a tragic accident involving a Mombasa-bound bus that suffered brake failure led to a devastating multi-car collision, resulting in the deaths of 14 people. Allan Gona shared the heart-wrenching news that his family had lost two members in this accident.
They were returning home after attending a cousin’s funeral.
“My aunt, Lilian Alusa, had traveled to Kakamega over the past weekend for a cousin’s burial. She was accompanied by her brother, Paul. They stayed in Voi, and after the Saturday funeral, they planned to head back to Voi on Monday evening. Unfortunately, they both lost their lives in the accident,” Allan recounted.
Allan described his aunt as a warm and charismatic individual who spread love and joy wherever she went.
“She was not only my mother’s best friend but also a deeply loving and humble person. I remember how she gifted me a T-shirt and jeans when I completed my Form Four; it was such a kind gesture. She will be greatly missed, even at church, where she was a dedicated and devout Catholic,” he said.
