John Nundwe, the overseer of Miracle Impact Ministries International, is said to have fled the scene by scaling a two-meter fence in a bid to escape.
The pastor reportedly fled the scene after being allegedly discovered naked in a bedroom with a married woman.
Mwebantu reports that the incident has led to a criminal case, which is currently under judicial review.
According to Mendai Simasiku, an officer at Bob Bromes Police Post, the woman’s husband, identified as John, reported the incident to the authorities.
John informed the police that Nundwe, aged 52, had fled his home, abandoning his car, clothes, and other personal items.
Simasiku recounted that he received a call from his supervisor directing him to investigate the case.
Upon arriving at the scene around 7 pm with another officer, Officer Simasiku was greeted by a crowd of about 30 people.
John, the husband, then guided the officers into the house and detailed the distressing events. He explained how, on the day of the incident, he had entered his home and greeted a man sitting in a chair in the living room, unaware of his identity.
It was only when John heard his wife’s voice coming from the spare bedroom that he realized something was amiss.
Upon rushing into the spare bedroom, John claimed to have found his wife with Bishop Nundwe, who was undressed and lying on the bed.
According to the court proceedings, John confronted the bishop, who allegedly called out to someone in the sitting room for assistance.
This prompted the individual in the bedroom to leave under the pretext of fetching a gun.
Seizing the opportunity, Bishop Nundwe reportedly fled the scene, abandoning several personal belongings in his haste.
Officer Simasiku testified that upon arriving at the scene, he discovered a collection of items believed to belong to Bishop Nundwe.
These included a pair of half-black shoes, a black belt, a black BMW cap, and green trousers. In addition, the officer found a striped t-shirt, blue underwear, grey shorts, car keys, and a phone.
These were all items the pastor allegedly left behind in his hurried escape. Simasiku also noted a two-meter-high wall fence behind the house, which is thought to be the barrier over which the accused jumped during his hasty getaway.
The incident has left the community in shock as Bishop Nundwe faces severe accusations and a scandal that threatens to significantly tarnish his reputation.
In a prior incident, Pastor Owen Silozi expressed deep regret for accepting an invitation from one of his female congregants.
Upon arriving at the designated location, he was ambushed by four men who forcibly shoved him into a vehicle.
It later emerged that the woman had orchestrated the encounter as part of a kidnapping scheme.
